SEARCHERS WORKSHOP

The Searchers have a very active Lapidary Workshop that meets several times per week, usually on Thursdays from 6-10 PM and Saturdays from 3-7 PM. The workshop has been stewarded by Herb Beckman for well over a decade now and he has terrific help in Jimmy Petersen and others as well. They open up the shop, help people with projects or teach how to cut slabs, polish, etc. We have a fully functional lapidary shop with rock saws up to 24 inches, cabbing machines, lapping machines, etc... Use of the equipment is made available to the membership for a minor usage fee of about $3/session to cover wear and tear on the equipment. Some of the material that we cut is also donated to the Veterans Hospital Lapidary Program in Long Beach. Usually you can find other members making wirewrap projects and/or teaching others how to wirewrap. Other times there might be a silversmithing class. Please check the Searchers newsletter for special events or contact Herb or Jimmy. The best thing is to just come on down and visit and see for yourself what you've been missing out on!

Here are some photos of the activities in the workshop.
